The Casa Blanca Learning Center is a 10,000 sq. ft. library in Riverside, CA. Located in a blighted urban area and serving an economically disadvantaged population, the center belongs to the City of Riverside, and serves as an anchor for future developments, including an energy resource center.

This learning facility is part of an overall effort to bring energy efficient designs to new developments within the City of Riverside. Casa Blanca Learning Center being the lead project, provides new energy efficient standards and is a critical aspect of revitalization for this neighborhood.

The mechanical system uses energy efficient motors, VFDs, and the exposed thermal mass of the building to minimize the size of the mechanical system and the energy it takes to operate.

The building was measured against the Title 24 requirements at the time of design and was over 35% better than the 1998 Title 24 code requirements.

IBE was the mechanical designer, provided the completion of the plumbing design, and handled the construction administration.
