10000 Santa Monica Boulevard

10000 Santa Monica Boulevard and Sierra Bonita Housing Win Los Angeles Architectural Awards

Beverly Hills, CA - June 19, 2008
Two current IBE projects won Design Concept Awards during the Los Angeles Business Council's (LABC) 38th Los Angeles Architectural Awards on June 19. 10000 Santa Monica Boulevard won in the Residential High-Rise category, while Sierra Bonita Housing won in the Affordable Low-Rise category.

2008 Priztker Architectural Prize laureate Jean Nouvel presented his concept and vision of 10000 Santa Monica Boulevard during his keynote address. IBE is currently working with Nouvel along with executive architect House & Robertson Architects, Inc. on the high-rise condominium development. The project, owned by SunCal Urban Properties, LLC, is sited on the edge of Century City adjacent to Beverly Hills. Envisioned as a "green blade", the 45-story building will consist of 177 luxury units, each surrounded by exterior greenery. The project will be seeking LEED® Silver certification.

IBE worked with Tighe Architecture on the Sierra Bonita project, West Hollywood's first mixed-use, all-affordable housing development. The project will consist of 42 units, organized around an internal second story courtyard. The courtyard's unique brace frame core is encased in pink fiberglass and envisioned as a five-story organic garden lattice. The sustainable building serves as a model for West Hollywood's recently implemented mandatory Green Building Ordinance.

In addition to the two Design Concept Awards, several IBE projects were recognized as part of the City of Los Angeles Green Building Program, which received the Community Impact Award. Of the more than 50 sustainable projects that the city is currently managing, IBE is providing mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services for the Pacoima City Hall with ROTO Architects and the L.A. Council District 9 Neighborhood City Hall with Paul Murdoch Architects.

The 38th Los Angeles Architectural Awards consisted of 17 sponsored awards, some with more than one category, along with the Community Impact Award. The Design Concept Award was presented in three categories (Affordable Low-Rise, Residential High-Rise and Commercial) and was sponsored by Cresa Partners, an international corporate real estate advisory firm specializing in tenant representation.
