IBE Consulting Engineers Promotes Bungane Mehlomakulu to Principal
Firm also Elevates Sandra Corazzelli and Jane O'Neill to Senior Associate Positions
LOS ANGELES: IBE Consulting Engineers (IBE)—one of the nation's leading MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) engineering firms—announces the promotion of three of its staff members to senior positions. The appointments includes one new principal to the IBE leadership ranks, Bungane Mehlomakulu, PE, LEED AP, who was promoted from senior associate. The internal promotions also include two new senior associates, Sandra Corazzelli, RA, LEED AP, and Jane O'Neill, both rising from associate positions.
"I'm extremely proud of the reservoir of talent that we are so fortunate to have at the firm," said Alan Locke, PE, founder and principal of IBE, whose name stands for Ideas for the Built Environment. "Bungane's skills and experience have contributed greatly to IBE's success, and he is an important part of its next generation of leadership. It gives me great pleasure to welcome him as a principal—as it does to recognize Sandra and Jane with promotions to senior associate. They are both essential members of the growing IBE team."
Newly minted principal Mehlomakulu joined IBE in 2002, straight out of Queen's University in Kingston, ON, Canada, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mechanical Engineering. A senior mechanical engineer, Mehlomakulu is an expert in leading-edge, advanced technologies, specializing in the design of radiant systems. He has been certified LEED AP by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
Projects in which his sophisticated, efficient, and sustainable designs have been instrumental include plans for Midwest-based food/agribusiness giant Simplot; the USC School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles; the Westminster Cultural Center in Westminster, CA; and the Art Center College of Design South Campus, one of Pasadena, CA's first LEED-certified buildings and a multiple award-winner for its energy-efficient design and performance.
Registered architect and new senior associate Sandra Corazzelli signed on with IBE in 2009 to bring more of an architectural project management viewpoint to the engineering firm, which has worked with the world's most noted architects, including Frank Gehry, Tom Mayne/Morphosis, Toyo Ito, and Coop Himmelb(l)au. A seasoned project manager and LEED accreditation specialist, Corazzelli holds a Bachelor of Science, Architectural Studies, from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Her project portfolio at IBE includes Simplot, Cedars Sinai Advanced Health Sciences Pavilion in Los Angeles, and Temple Judea in Tarzana, CA.
Senior Associate Jane O'Neill has the distinction of being IBE's first official employee, joining in 2000. She has served as office manager, devising and implementing internal systems and organizational strategies that have kept IBE running efficiently.
IBE Consulting Engineers designs mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems that are responsive to architectural goals, meet clients' budgetary and technical expectations, and achieve energy efficiency, ease of maintenance, system integration, and maximum sustainability. IBE has completed a wide array of project types, including large office buildings, museums, entertainment facilities, libraries, laboratories, film archives, educational facilities, retail buildings, and housing projects.
